Bible Text: Ephesians 5:15 – 21 | Preacher: Pastor Jon Nelson | Series: Where do I belong?
“Where do I belong?” is our sermon series as we are walking through the book of Ephesians. It also is a question of balancing the roles of being a follower of Jesus while at the same time the everyday life of work and home. Ephesians gives us deeply practical advice on church, marriage, parenting, forgiveness and much more all while exalting the sovereignty of God. The advice is rooted deeply in how our great God loves us in the same way.
This week we walk through Ephesians 5:15 – 21 where Paul addresses the subject of living a wise life. God has empowered us to walk worthy, to walk no longer as we used to walk, to walk in love and to walk as children of light. But we have to pay attention. We have to be careful. We live in a culture controlled by sin, in a body in which sin is constantly trying to take charge and in a world inhabited by a highly intelligent spiritual power intent on our destruction. We live in a battle zone. The bullets are live. And we’ll be in the battle until we leave this world. Now God has given us all the resources we need to win this battle, as long as we take the battle seriously.
Our Soul Tattoo for the week is “[As a Christian] You are children of light, you have access to wisdom and no longer foolish – so live like wise people.”
