Christians at Work (Ephesians 6/5 – 9)
Bible Text: Ephesians 6:5 – 9 | Preacher: Pastor Jon Nelson | Series: Where do I belong?
“Where do I belong?” is our sermon series as we are walking through the book of Ephesians. It also is a question of balancing the roles of being a follower of Jesus while at the same time the everyday life of work and home. Ephesians gives us deeply practical advice on church, marriage, parenting, forgiveness and much more all while exalting the sovereignty of God. The advice is rooted deeply in how our great God loves us in the same way.
This week we walk through Ephesians 6:5-9 where the passage walks through our obligations in working. People grow up under the assumption that they will one day have an exciting, challenging, and highly satisfying job. Yet, when we enter the workforce, so many of us experience jobs that are alternatively tedious, menial, stressful, and boring. We experience a tension. On the one hand, we want to have fulfilling and purposeful careers. On the other hand, we often feel frustrated and stymied by the careers we’re in.
Our Soul Tattoo for the week is “Work for Jesus.”
