Soma Community Church started a faith-based tutoring program with the hope of making a difference in the lives of under-privileged children who are struggling academically – with the vision to tutor and mentor them in the spirit of Christ. We are excited to continue our partnership with Moreau Heights Elementary.
Our Mission: To help improve the lives of elementary students through academic tutoring, positive mentoring and spiritual nurture.
What is Whiz Kids?
A one-on-one tutoring program that meets weekly for an hour of tutoring and30 minutes of “Club Time” (Bible lesson).
Who should volunteer?
You don’t have to be a teacher to volunteer! We are looking for anyone who iswilling and available: men, women, teenagers (16 +), college students, retirees… Don’t worry – we will have experts on hand to help tutors with academic questions.
What is the time commitment?
We begin with a tutor meeting in September and start in October. We will meet on days that school is in session through the end of April. Because this is a one-on-one program, we need a school-year commitment.
We meet on Wednesdays from 5:30 – 7:30 at Soma Community Church (Concord Association Building) 804 Fairmount Blvd.
