Maundy Thursday is the day on which Jesus celebrated the Feast of Passover with his disciples, it was here that Jesus instituted the Lord’s Supper as a Sacrament of his church. The name, Maundy. comes from the Latin word ‘mandatum’ meaning commandment. This refers to Jesus’ words to his disciples at ‘The Last Supper’ recorded in John 13:34, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.”
